New Toys!

My dad and I were trimming branches off a cherry tree in my grandma's backyard and thought one of the smaller twigs would make an awesome roosting bar! We took it home and ran it under some hot water to get anything potentially harmful off. At first they were uncertain, but ended up loving it! We also put in an empty toilet paper roll- which they loved. You can't see it in this video, but there is also a small mirror on the other side of the brooder. I highly recommend this because it kept our little ones occupied for hours on end. Having toys in the brooder will keep your chicks distracted and will make them less aggressive towards each other.

We had to put a metal net over the top on the second day because already our chicks, black sex link especially, were trying to escape the brooder!
